OLC is mainly one large shotgun style room with a maximum capacity of 100 people. The stage is located at the front of the venue; there is a small dance floor, a variety of tables, chairs and couches betw
een the stage and the counter which is near the back of the venue. The stage is elevated about one foot. OLC has a PA system that can power six devices. There is a MP 6 channel powered mixer with 2 York performance 3 speakers. OLC has three mics with stands. If you need more than six devices through the PA system then you must supply additional equipment. OLC is booking shows every Friday and Saturday from 7 until 9pm. Friday's are reserved for Christian performers. Harvest Time Music Ministries brings most of the talent on Friday night; however
affiliation with Harvest time Ministries is not required for booking on Fridays. Saturday night's are open format. OLC books any genre of music as long as it is family friendly and original per ASCAP, BMI, SESAC regulations. When the Campbell’s took ownership of OLC they were not allowed to host live music per order of the Office of Licensing and Permits (IPL) due to repeated noise violations and other illegal activities permitted by previous owners. They have since been cleared to host live events and have adhered to the rules and regulations of the IPL and the Louisville noise ordinance. What this means to performers is that music must not be heard beyond ten feet of OLC property.
There is never a cover charge at OLC. Performers are allowed to collect tips, but OLC does not pay performers. Arrangements can be made to allow artist to sell merchandise such as CD or t-shirts during the event and will allow you
OLC's goal has been to create a creative outlet for original Louisville Music, that is wholesome and family friendly. Many of the OLC regulars are UofL students and staff, and families in the Old Louisville area. The OLC was formally a hardcore/punk venue, this is no longer the case; however these genres are welcome to perform provided they are family friendly and will not break noise ordinances.
Pamela handles most booking at the OLC. You can reach her via myspace.com/olch. Artist should send links to their EPK, MySpace or URL where OLC can preview their music. Pamela reviews all music submissions before she makes any decisions about booking. To increase your chances your recordings should prove that you can play in a family friendly environment. Pamela's biggest concerns are noise ordinances and respect for the neighborhood.
OLC is another venue that is relatively easy to get booked at. This is good news for newer bands. More experienced artist may be turned off from OLC because there is no guaranteed compensation for their time and effort. OLC is one of the only venues in Old Louisville with an open format. This means that you have an opportunity to play for an audience that does not have many options for finding local music in their neighborhood. Quote this article on your site
